The benefits of cooking at home and eating dinner as a family
Cooking more meals at home is one of the absolute best ways to live a healthy lifestyle. According to a study of more than 9,000 people published in Public Health Nutrition cooking meals at home was associated with weight loss, eating fewer calories and fat, and eating more nutritious foods.
And though health is one of the number one reasons we aim to help people enjoy more home-cooked meals, we know it’s only one of the many benefits of getting into the kitchen.
Research shows that people who cook at home versus those who eat mostly take-out or restaurant meals
- Take in an average of 13 pounds less sugar per year
- Eat 4 pounds less fat per year
- Have significantly highers scores on the Healthy Eating Index
- Eat from a wider variety of food groups, gaining more nutrients
- Eat smaller portions
- Spend up to 80% less on the cost of each meal
- Have healthier, happier, and smarter kids
- Have better family relationships
With all those benefits, plus an arsenal of delicious and fast weeknight recipes, we say it’s time to get cooking!

Hello. I tried the sweet and sour chicken recipe. And it was d e l i c i o u s:) Usually you eat sweet and sour chicken in the restaurant and it looks like a difficult dinner to prepare. But in reality is easy to make. The only thing everyone has to keep in mind is not to overcook the chicken.
