Vital Proteins Whole30 Starter Kit
If you’ve followed us for more than a few days then you know what HUGE fans of Vital Proteins we both are. We literally use their products every. single. day because they’re easy to incorporate into our daily lives and we love the benefits like stronger hair and nails, better complexion and improved digestion. If you’re new to collagen you can read more about why we love it here – and don’t forget your Whole30 Starter Kit, NEW Vanilla Collagen Peptides and Collagen Peptide Stick-packs for when you’re on the go!
Fatworks Fats
We love the entire line of traditional fats from our friends at Fatworks. They’re the fats your great-grandmother would have used – all 100% grass-fed and/or pasture-raised and rendered in small batches to ensure the best tasting fat.
We love the new pasture-raised Duck Fat for roasting vegetables and the Pure Lard and Tallow for pan frying and starting soups and stews (like this insanely delicious Creamy Ham & Potato Soup or our Slow Cooker Beef Stew). And if you’re looking for something a bit more exotic, try the Lamb Tallow – it’s great for frying eggs!
Whole30-Approved Groceries + Snacks delivered to your door
You know all those yummy looking snacks and pantry staples you see all over social media that are 100% Whole30-compliant but aren’t available where you live?! You know you’re missing out…frustrating, isn’t it?
Well, fret no more! Our friends at Barefoot Provisions have curated some of the BEST food swag from every corner of the Whole30 earth to make your life infinitely easier this month. You can check out all of their Whole30 Kits here.
Don’t forget the GHEE!
This stuff is magical and makes everything buttery (because regular butter is a Whole30 no-no) We use it for sautéing and roasting and topping vegetables and big baked sweet potatoes… so if buttery is your jam then be sure to have a jar or two of ghee (aka clarified butter) on hand this month!
Nutpods Coffee Creamer
It’s true, the Whole30 is hard. And so is childbirth and beating cancer. But in the immortal words, forever seared in our brains, of the program’s own creator, Melissa Hartwig – “Drinking black coffee is not hard.” Some people would really disagree with the statement. If that’s you, then sweat no more because there is a Whole30-approved creamer to answer your ‘I-just-can’t-drink-black-coffee’ prayers. Now you have no more excuses not to Whole30 it up.
Nutpods Dairy-free Creamer is the first Whole30-compliant coffee creamer made with almond and coconut milk. For those who also need flavor with their creaminess, it comes in French Vanilla and Hazelnut, too. The coffee gods have answered your prayers.
Canned Salmon & Tuna
When time is not in your favor reach for the easiest source of quality protein. Canned tuna and salmon make for a fast-and-easy Whole30 Meal or try our 5-minutes salmon (or tuna) salad. Not all canned tuna and salmon are created equal so read the ingredients carefully and choose wisely. Safe Catch Tuna and Wild Planet Salmon are two of our favorite Whole30 compliant brands.
Franks Red Hot Sauce
With all these new fangled, up and coming products we just had to toss in an old school favorite! Franks Red Hot Sauce, invented in 1920, is one of the few widely-available Whole30-compliant hot sauces out there. And it’s also the secret to everything Buffalo like our Slow Cooker Buffalo Chicken and these Buffalo Chicken Meatballs.
Epic Bars
When life throws you a “hangry” emergency on the Whole30, these are the bars to reach for. Made with 100% grass-fed or pastured-raised animal protein, Epic bars offer up a good dose of protein and fat to satisfy you longer. We like to combine then with a handful of raw veggies, when possible. Because that just feels like the right thing to do. Maybe that’s a dietitian thing…veggies with everything 😉
Chomps
Chomps sticks are what we’d call a ‘lighter and snackier’ version on the Epic bar. Made with 100% grass-fed beef each stick is a convenient was to add a little protein to snack like an apple or orange. Because for some reason, they’re really good with fruit. Bonus: They’re available at most Trader Joe’s stores, too!
Nuttzo
This one is for the nut butter lover. Nuttzo Organic Power Fuel is a blend of organic roasted cashews, organic roasted almonds, organic roasted brazil nuts, organic roasted flax seeds, organic roasted hazelnuts, organic roasted chia seeds, organic roasted pumpkin seeds, sea salt – available in both smooth and crunchy. Note: If nut butter is a ‘food without brakes’ for you, then you might want to set some limits on how much you consume and how (i.e. not from the jar with a spoon) because it’s that good.
Rx Bars
Made with simple ingredients and no fillers, Rx bars are true to their “No B.S.” mantra. All flavors with the exception of Peanut Butter and Peanut Butter Chocolate Chips are Whole30-compliant.
A word about bars: Though technically compliant, bars made with fruit and nuts can become an all too easy way to prop up a sugar craving or a “dessert” which is not in the spirit of the Whole30. Our take on bars like these is that they are great to have on hand for emergencies or as a post-workout snack for athletes participating in CrossFit, a high-intensity or endurance sports, or outdoor activities (skiing, hiking, etc.) or if you travel a ton. <– Even then, there are other options out that there won’t tempt your sugar dragon if you feel like this could become a food without brakes for you.
