I started making this fruit dip recipe as a kid-friendly appetizer for one of my kid’s birthday parties, but it quickly became a hit with the adults in the room, too. My youngest son, Theo, is especially a fan. He even eats it straight off the spoon like yogurt. And I really can’t blame him. It’s so light and creamy, perfectly sweet, and tastes almost like cheesecake, all while being made with simple, wholesome ingredients.

Recipe Highlights
Ideal for parties and potlucks: This easy fruit dip is always a crowd-pleaser and pairs perfectly with a big platter of fresh fruit, pretzels, or graham crackers. It’s easy to double and travels well, making it ideal for birthday parties, game days, holidays, baby showers, and backyard BBQs.
Minimal ingredients: This recipe tastes like a fancy dip from the store but is made with just five wholesome real-food ingredients, most of which I almost always have on hand.
Quick and easy: The entire recipe comes together in just 5 minutes with no cooking required. All I use is a hand mixer and a bowl, and it always turns out perfectly.

5 Simple Ingredients
This quick cream cheese fruit dip uses just a few ingredients I tend to always have on hand:
- Cream cheese: This is the base of the dip, giving it a thick consistency and cheesecake-like tang. I typically use regular full-fat cream cheese. However, for a lighter version with less saturated fat, Neufchâtel cheese or reduced-fat cream cheese also works.
- Yogurt: I like using Chobani Less Sugar Madagascar Vanilla & Cinnamon yogurt. I prefer the texture and flavor, and how it just has a touch of sweetness, but any vanilla Greek yogurt tastes great, and feel free to use full-fat or reduced-fat. I just don’t recommend non-fat yogurt, since it makes the dip too watery.
- Maple syrup: I use this natural sweetener in place of powdered sugar found in many party dips. If I don’t have maple syrup on hand, I use honey instead, adjusting the amount depending on the sweetness of the yogurt.
- Vanilla extract: This enhances the sweetness of the dip and gives it a little extra depth. Use vanilla bean paste for an added wow factor.
- Cinnamon: This warm spice adds a nice light and bright flavor of the dip, but feel free to leave it out for a more plain creamy flavor.

Make It Dairy Free
For a dairy-free dip, use a plant-based cream cheese and plant-based Greek yogurt. Also, if stirring in protein powder, use a favorite plant-based protein powder instead of whey protein.

The Easiest Fruit Dip To Make
This is truly the best fruit dip, and it’s completely fail-proof, even when making it for the first time. I’ve tried mixing it by hand, but I find using an electric hand-held mixer is the easiest way to speed up the process and ensure a smooth, creamy consistency. Here’s how this easy dip comes together:
- Blend: Use a hand mixer or stand mixer to blend the cream cheese on low-medium speed until it’s smooth.
- Combine: Add the remaining ingredients, and continue to mix a few seconds more until the dip is smooth and creamy. I always give it a quick taste test and adjust the sweetness or cinnamon as needed.
- Use or store: Serve the fruit dip right away with a variety of dippers, or transfer it to an airtight container to store in the fridge for later.

Give It A Protein Boost
This fruit yogurt dip is one of my favorite unique ways to use protein powder, which helps give it a little extra staying power while still keeping the creamy, cheesecake-like flavor. I find it especially useful if I’m serving the dip as an after-school snack or bringing it along to a busy day of activities.
To keep the texture smooth, I recommend mixing the protein powder in gradually. Add it after the yogurt and cream cheese are fully blended, then mix on low speed until just combined. If the dip thickens too much, add 1-2 teaspoons of milk (or a little extra yogurt) to loosen it up. Using a smooth, fine protein powder also helps maintain a light, creamy texture.
What To Pair With This For Dipping
Fresh fruit is always my go-to with this dip. I set it out with my family’s favorite fruit options, such as strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, apple slices, banana coins, grapes, pineapple chunks, cantaloupe pieces, and even mandarin oranges for dipping. In the spring and summer, a big platter of berries with this dip in the center feels extra special but takes almost no effort.
For something a little more fun (and kid-approved), I’ll add pretzels for a sweet-and-salty combo or graham cracker sticks for a cheesecake vibe. It’s also delicious with simple crackers like the sweet ones from Simple Mills.
If preparing this dip for a party or gathering, I like to serve it as part of an appetizer platter alongside other healthy dips and crowd-pleasing snacks, like my buffalo cauliflower bites and air fryer chicken wings.
Storing Leftovers In The Fridge
This homemade fruit dip is great for meal prep and keeps well in an airtight container for up to 5 days in the fridge. I don’t typically have any issues, but if the ingredients begin to separate, I just give the mixture a quick blend with a mixer to redistribute everything.

Frequently Asked Questions
I don’t recommend freezing this fruit dip because the dairy tends to become watery or grainy once thawed.
Absolutely. Simply double all of the ingredients and mix as directed. If using a hand mixer, make sure to use a slightly larger bowl to prevent splattering.
Lumps usually happen if the cream cheese isn’t fully softened before mixing. Make sure to let it sit at room temperature until soft. Then, beat it until completely smooth before adding the remaining ingredients. If needed, continue mixing it a bit longer and scrape down the sides of the bowl as you go to ensure everything blends evenly.
Yes, try adding marshmallow cream (marshmallow fluff) or Cool Whip for a sweeter flavor and fluffier consistency. For a fruitier flavor, try adding a small splash of orange juice, cherry juice, or lemon juice, or make fruit dip with strawberry cream cheese or blueberry cream cheese. I’ve even made it with a little peanut butter and cocoa powder for a chocolate fruit dip that’s extra decadent.

This was delicious and easy to whip up (even with a couple of toddler helpers)! We used plain yogurt and just increased the vanilla and honey slightly. We will be making this again soon!
Are these recipes designed around people that have kidney disease… because I have kidney disease and it seems like there is a lot of sodium in them. Could you let me know if they’re designed that way

Any thoughts on whether this might work with almond or coconut milk yogurt? Wed also use vegan cream cheese. This just looks like such a great addition to lunches or a midday snack.
This will definitely work with non-dairy yogurt.
This dip is so delicious. It is light, mildly sweet, and has a wonderful peanut butter flavor. I’ve served it on two different occasions.
