If you’ve been following us for a while, you probably already know we’re longtime fans of AG1. We’ve recommended it for a few years now because it’s one of the few nutrition products that has consistently earned a spot in our own daily routines. In fact, most mornings start the same way around here: a glass of AG1 before coffee, breakfast, and then a checklist of things waiting for us.
When AG1 launched AG1 Pro, we were immediately intrigued. It builds upon everything we already appreciated about AG1 Next Gen but adds three clinically effective ingredients that target something we talk about consistently: preserving muscle, supporting healthy aging, and maintaining good gut health.
After drinking the new AG1 Pro for the past month, here’s our honest take as three registered dietitians who actually use it nearly every day.

This post is sponsored by our friends at AG1.
What Is AG1 Pro?
Think of AG1 Pro as the next evolution of AG1 Next Gen. It still includes the same clinically backed foundation we’ve come to rely on: a comprehensive blend of vitamins, minerals, probiotics, prebiotics, phytonutrients, adaptogens, and whole-food sourced ingredients designed to help fill common nutrient gaps and support foundational health.
What makes AG1 Pro different is the addition of three clinically studied ingredients, each included at clinically effective doses:
- Creatine to support cellular energy production (ATP), muscle strength, power, recovery, and healthy energy metabolism.
- Calcium-HMB to help reduce muscle protein breakdown while supporting the maintenance of lean muscle mass.
- Zinc Carnosine to help support gut integrity and maintain a healthy gut barrier.
Instead of adding another supplement—or two or three—to our routines, AG1 Pro stacks those additional benefits into the same morning habit we were already doing. That convenience factor is what appealed to us most.

AG1 Next Gen Vs AG1 Pro
If you’re wondering whether you need to switch, here’s the easiest way to think about it.
AG1 Next Gen: This remains an excellent choice if your primary goal is foundational nutrition. It delivers comprehensive daily vitamins and minerals, probiotics, prebiotics, phytonutrients, adaptogens, and ingredients that help support energy, immunity, digestion, and overall wellness.
AG1 Pro: This new version includes everything found in AG1 Next Gen plus clinically effective creatine, calcium-HMB, and zinc carnosine.
The formula is designed to go beyond foundational nutrition by supporting:
- Muscle strength
- Muscle recovery
- Lean muscle maintenance
- Healthy aging
- Metabolic resilience
- Gut barrier integrity
We will say, AG1 Pro has a noticeably sweeter taste (the sweetener in both AG1 Next Gen and AG1 Pro is stevia leaf extract). The sweetness is not unpleasant, but it is stronger in AG1 Pro. And, for us, the predominant flavors are vanilla and pineapple (though each of us tastes a little different flavors come forward in it). For us, this drink feels less like replacing AG1 and more like getting AG1 plus several of the supplements we were already taking separately.

“As someone who was taking AG1 and creatine separately, I like that I don’t have to drink yet another glass of something. I’m more apt to take AG1 Pro because of the added creatine. It’s just a lot more convenient.”

What We Like Most
We’ve chatted at length about AG1 Pro, and there are several things about it that just make sense to use, including:
- It simplifies our morning routines. As dietitians, we know consistency beats perfection every single time. Instead of remembering multiple products, AG1 Pro lets us cover foundational nutrition while also supporting muscle and gut health with one morning drink.
- We love that muscle health is finally getting more attention. One thing we’ve become increasingly passionate about—both personally and professionally—is protecting muscle as we age, especially as we all enter a stage of perimenopause. Muscle health isn’t just about athletes or bodybuilders, and we know that maintaining lean muscle supports our healthy aging, mobility, metabolic health, and independence throughout life. The additions of creatine and Calcium-HMB makes AG1 Pro especially interesting because these are ingredients backed by research for supporting muscle maintenance and performance.
- Jess especially loves not having to take creatine separately. Jess has been supplementing with creatine for quite a while because of its well-established benefits for strength, recovery, brain health, and healthy aging. With AG1 Pro, she no longer has to remember a separate scoop of creatine each morning. Everything she wants is already in one drink. It’s one less container on the counter and one less habit for her to remember.
- Gut health goes beyond probiotics. Most people think about probiotics when they think about gut health, and AG1 does provide clinically studied strains of probiotics, which we appreciate. The addition of Zinc Carnosine adds another layer by helping support the integrity of the gut lining itself. That’s something we don’t see included very often in comprehensive greens powders.

“Personally, I don’t like drinking creatine on its own, so incorporating it into AG1 Pro is just an easier habit for me to maintain. About a year ago, I committed to drinking AG1 every day and I feel really good. I’ll continue doing it with AG1 Pro.”

The Shaker Is Actually Fantastic
Your first flexible subscription of AG1 Pro includes a custom YETI shaker. And it has become our favorite way to drink this new Daily Health Drink.
We honestly weren’t expecting to have strong opinions about the shaker bottle that we got with our first order … but here we are.
It’s leakproof, durable, and doesn’t require one of those metal mixing balls that somehow always disappears. Instead, the twisted sidewall design keeps the powder suspended surprisingly well, so every sip stays smooth. We tend to reshake it before every sip and drink it down pretty quickly, and the bottle helps with that.

“I like the formulations of both AG1 Next Gen and AG1 Pro. The included multivitamins, prebiotics, and probiotics that I can get in a refreshing drink instead of taking those nutrients in pill form is a big draw for me. The travel packs are so convenient and helped me feel better on a recent vacation.”

Who We Think It’s Best For
While almost anyone looking for convenient daily nutrition could use AG1 Pro, we think it makes the most sense for a few groups.
- Active people: Whether you’re lifting weights, running, playing pickleball, hiking, or simply trying to stay active for decades to come, AG1 Pro supports muscle recovery and performance while helping cover foundational nutrition.
- Healthy eaters focused on longevity: Even people with excellent diets can have nutrient gaps. AG1 Pro has been clinically shown to help fill common nutrient gaps (even in already healthy eaters) while also supporting healthy aging through muscle maintenance.
- Current creatine users: If you’re already taking creatine every day (like Jess was), or have been interested in taking it more consistently (like Stacie and I are), then AG1 Pro is an easy upgrade. Instead of buying and remembering multiple products, you can streamline your routine into one daily drink.
- Adults using GLP-1 medications: For individuals using GLP-1 medications as part of their health routine, maintaining muscle becomes especially important. AG1 Pro combines creatine and Calcium-HMB with comprehensive nutrition to help support muscle health. At the same time, it helps fill nutrient gaps that may occur when appetite decreases.
AG1 Pro is intended for adults over 18 who are not pregnant or breastfeeding. It fits a variety of eating styles, including vegan, vegetarian, Paleo, keto, and low-carbohydrate diets.

Is AG1 Pro Worth It?
After using AG1 consistently and now AG1 Pro consistently for a month, we have appreciated the upgrade.
We’ve always liked AG1 because it makes it easier to stay consistent with our nutrition. AG1 Pro simply builds on that foundation by adding ingredients we already value professionally and personally.
Could you buy creatine, HMB, zinc carnosine, and a greens powder separately? Absolutely. But for us, convenience matters. The easier something is to do every morning, the more likely we are to actually keep doing it.
That’s exactly why AG1 has remained part of our routines for years. And it’s why AG1 Pro has quickly replaced AG1 Next Gen on our kitchen counters.
If your goals include supporting muscle strength, healthy aging, gut barrier function, or foundational nutrition (without adding more products to your day) we think AG1 Pro is a thoughtful evolution of an already strong formula.
