A fruity and festive take on a classic margarita, these stunning cocktails are perfect for serving at the holidays. This recipe makes a batch of four margaritas, and the main mixture can be made up to two days in advance and refrigerated until ready to serve. Great for stress-free party hosting!

Prep: 15 minTotal: 15 min
Servings: 4 margaritas 1x

  • 56 medium limes, juiced (about ½ cup juice)
  • 1 medium orange, juiced (about ¼ cup)
  • 1 teaspoon honey or agave nectar (optional)
  • 6 ounces tequila of choice*
  • 4 ounces pomegranate juice
  • Pinch of salt
  • Ice
  • Sparkling water (plain or lime flavored)
  • Optional: turbinado sugar for rim, lime wedges or slices for serving, pomegranate seeds (arils)

  1. In a quart-sized mason jar or small pitcher, combine the lime juice, orange juice, honey, tequila, pomegranate juice, and salt. Stir well and set aside.
  2. [Optional step] To sugar the glass rims:
    • Add turbinado sugar to a small, shallow bowl or small plate.
    • Press a lime wedge onto the rim of a glass and drag it all around the rim to distribute a little lime juice around the rim of the glass.
    • Turn the glass upside down and dip the rim into the bowl of sugar, turning the glass a few quarter turns back and forth to ensure the entire rim is sugared. Repeat for the remaining glasses.
  3. Fill each glass ¾ full with ice cubes.
  4. Pour ¼ of the margarita mixture into each glass.
  5. Top off with a bit of sparkling water.
  6. Garnish each glass with a lime slice and a few pomegranate seeds. Serve immediately.

The margarita mixture in Step 1 can be made up to 2 days in advance and stored in the refrigerator until ready to use. Pour over ice and top with sparkling water just before serving.

*For a mocktail, replace the tequila with an equal amount of a tequila alternative (we like Ritual Tequila Zero Proof, Trejo’s Spirits Tequila Alternative, and Spiritless Jalisco 55 Non-Alcoholic Tequila) or use an equal amount of ginger kombucha.
